Hunt
From RecodedWiki
Hunt is my baby. My BIG project. The game that is going to put ALL of my skills, and then some, to the test.
As such, it is not expected of me to actually complete it. At least, not by myself, but many are very reluctant to help it seems. Still, I accept and all offers to help with this project.
Hunt is going to require me to do 3D modeling, animating and rendering. For this I have started using Blender and in just a short time, I have already begun to make some decent models. However, at this time [March 9, 2010] I have only been using Blender for a short time and still need a lot more practice.
Hunt will also require me to do some extensive programming that will involve displaying cut scenes, generating a decent looking in-game working operating system (or 2 or 3), a programming language (or 2 or 3) that can actually be compiled and run in-game (along with many basic programs already created in-game using the language(s) created) and probably even networking support. Hopefully I'll be able to find plenty of 'free to use for non-commercial' (i.e. GPL) libraries to help ease the amount of programming I need to do.
I will be tested on my skills of being to give the game a captivating story line, as this is the biggest thing in making an Indie Game successful.
Lastly (or so I hope), if I am to make it multiplayer, I will need to take security into major consideration. This is probably the most challenging part of it all. Creating an online hacking game tends to attract users that will want to show off their '1337 skillz' by ruining the fun for legitimate players.
Anyway, I will soon resume work on the design document I started long ago.
You can find the design document HERE.
The original doc was last modified Sept. 8 2008
I will be resuming from that point, fixing formatting first then filling in the missing parts and finally updating all of it till it is complete.
As soon as the document is 100% complete (or at least I assume it is), I will begin the actual programming.
While I am still updating the design document, I will be working on the 3D portions in Blender constantly, as it helps give me a better idea of how I want everything to look and function and even how the story should unfold.
